About the Foundation

The Dick Tiger Foundation (DTF) is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) public charity that promotes Dick Tiger’s vision and legacy of empowerment. The DTF is dedicated to advancing girls’ education, women’s’ health, and youth empowerment in underserved Nigerian communities. Through targeted, community-based interventions, DTF works to remove structural barriers that prevent girls and young people from accessing education, health resources, and opportunities for long-term self-reliance.

The DTF believes in gender equality through cultural, social, economic, and political support to women and girls. Discipline achieved through individual and team sports will be the hallmark of the Foundation. As a world champion boxer, Dick Tiger achieved fame and acclaim, honored his nation, and supported his community. The goal of this Foundation is to promote these principles as his legacy.

IMPACT PHILOSOPHY

A future in which girls remain in school, women thrive in dignity and health, and young people are equipped to lead resilient, self-sustaining communities across Nigeria.

EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES & COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENTS

The Dick Tiger Foundation’s focus responds directly to documented gaps in educational access, menstrual health support, maternal wellbeing, and youth development in developing-country contexts, particularly under-served urban and peri-urban communities in Nigeria. Evidence consistently shows that when girls’ education and women’s health are supported, outcomes improve across households and communities.

The Dick Tiger Foundation (DTF) advances education as a cornerstone of individual opportunity, community resilience, and long-term economic mobility. We work to expand access to quality learning environments and resources for all students in under-served rural and urban communities.

Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded tuition scholarships to twenty deserving high school students—reducing barriers to education and supporting pathways to higher achievement, and has prioritized the renovation of primary and secondary school facilities.

Sports Development:

Sports serve as a powerful vehicle for youth development, inclusion, and community engagement. The Dick Tiger Foundation leverages athletics to promote discipline, teamwork, leadership, and personal responsibility among young people from diverse backgrounds. DTF collaborates with philanthropic partners, public institutions, and private-sector stakeholders to ensure inclusive participation by girls and boys, women and men, across communities. Through organized sports programs and events, the Foundation creates safe, structured environments where youth can develop goal-setting skills, resilience, and confidence. By using sports as both an engagement tool and a developmental framework, DTF strengthens social cohesion while equipping participants with the mindset and values needed to thrive despite socioeconomic challenges

Economic Empowerment:

The Dick Tiger Foundation is committed to promoting economic self-sufficiency and sustainable livelihoods for economically distressed individuals and families. Through partnerships with local vocational institutions and skilled instructors, the Foundation delivers hands-on training programs that equip participants with marketable skills.

Programs focus on out-of-school youth and adults, offering instruction in areas such as carpentry, tailoring, industrial baking, and office and administrative skills, among others. These initiatives are designed to increase employability, generate income opportunities, and foster entrepreneurship.

In addition, DTF collaborates with financial institutions and community partners to provide financial literacy education, responsible personal financial management training, and access to basic financial services—helping participants build long-term economic stability.
